Transversal competence assessment based in rubrics: An experience used in Childhood Education at the University of Barcelona


Abstract


This article focuses on the development of the competencies in higher education, through the formative research as a pedagogical tool and the use of the rubrics for the assessment. It is a part of a project granted in the Call for the Teaching Improvement and Innovation Program of the University of Barcelona (El valor de la investigación formativa para la innovación docente y el desarrollo competencial-PMID2102-2012PID- UB/117)) with the aim to show its efficiency to improve the capacity of learning, autonomy and responsibility of the students. It presents the proposal of intervention elaborated in the subject Classroom observation and Innovation in the Early Childhood Education Degree of the University of Barcelona during the academic course 2012-13; the design of the rubric for the assessment of the learning capacity and responsibility, a common transversal competence; the process of discussion and the use of this rubric with the students, and the value of the experience.
