Virtual Laboratory of teaching-learning: numerical solution of the conservation equations using finite volume method applied to extended surfaces

Abstract

In the present work is showed the design of a teaching-learning Virtual Laboratory for the resolution of a Heat Transfer typical problem that appears in the matter “Thermal Engineering” during the II course of the Engineering in Industrial Technologies Degree taught at Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid.

In the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics and using the simulation software Ansys Fluent, the students are initiated in the design, system modeling, resolution, analysis and validation of the model. The result of this learning experience is not only the mere resolution of the problem, unapproachable with didactic traditional methods, but the development of the combination of skills, abilities and knowledge necessary for the acquisition of some of the general and specific competences of Thermal Engineering.
