Official Statistics as an educational resource


This paper deals with the important role that Official Statistics can play when teaching Statistics. Official Statistics can be used as a valuable teaching tool, as it offers a motivating learning approach for both university and high-school students. As a case of use, we describe a teaching experience carried out during the 2009-2010 academic year which uses as an educational resource the information coming from three official institutions: the Spanish National Statistics Institute, the Valencian Statistics Institute and the Statistics Office of the City Hall of Valencia.
