Training Needs of University Teachers in Relation to Web 2.0 Tools and Future Prospects


Abstract


This paper shows some training needs of teachers in higher education in relation to the use and application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): Web 2.0 tools, social networks, systems or personal learning environments (SPA / PLE), and the Moodle LMS, among others, and projections for the next five years. The purpose is to show first training needs of university teachers on the issue and secondly, create awareness in decision makers and educators themselves of the need to implement and participate in massive plans ongoing training, so they can take over and integrate ICT into the curriculum in their area of expertise and / or subject they teach. Was used an action research design is an exploratory descriptive, and applied a diagnostic instrument type "survey" online, for the detection of training needs in relation to ICT, consisting of open and closed questions multiple choice, designed by consulting primary sources (experts) and secondary sources (bibliography). As a result concluded with a proposal for training and / or update that is a virtual classroom in Moodle, entitled "Training Workshop Web 2.0 Tools to Support University Teaching", to meet the needs identified. In conclusion, it is suggested to implement the "Training Workshop Web 2.0 Tools to Support University Teaching", so that they are "appropriate" for them, according to good practice in teaching and learning.
