Los espacios de mayor inmigración en los centros históricos

Resumen

The recent process of immigration has transformed the demographic structures of numerous areas within inner cities, in the most deteriorated ones, but also some others which are carrying out a process of renovation. This paper analyses changes that have taken place in a period shorter than four years, since the last published Population Census until the Padrón of 2005, in those areas where the number of foreigners has increased dramatically since 2001. The main topics which are studied are rhythms of immigrant arrival, inner cities singularity regarding other urban areas, the dramatic change in the age composition of these urban areas, the clusterisation of particular social groups and differences between the cities. Throughout this analysis, the situation of inner cities will be analysed as one of the most symbolic areas in cities.
