MOOC: A new teaching/learning scenario for foreign languages

Abstract

This article falls within the scope of MOOC, especially oriented language acquisition. The objectives of this research are to shed light on the state of the current debate and on the possibility of a new way of learning foreign languages, evoke its strengths and weaknesses and analyze its methodological design. The most remarkable results of this research are the MOOC homogenizing tendency in the construction of knowledge which does not guarantee the full reception of its contents, the limited possibilities to reflect cultural diversity and the need to design new pedagogical approaches aimed at channeling the potential technology towards a greater personalization of learning.
